Description

We MAY ship the IDOM4-SMT version instead of the through-hole IDOM4 pictured. THEY ARE OPERATIONALLY IDENTICAL (except USB C on SMT board instead USB MINI). All else is the same as described in this listing. See pictures of the SMT version. Board size is the same as through-hole version. Want the manual? Not permitted to give it here, so search for "ID-O-MATIC manual" Make a HAM or GMRS repeater from YOUR two inexpensive TYT TH-9000D radios! PLUG and PLAY, no soldering * Programming IDOM4 included ID in CW You MUST tell us your callsign to program immediately or we will ship unprogrammed! This listing includes: 2 internal radio cables to DB-9 female and 2 cables that you will connect to the IDOM4 *Cables allow you to use this ID-O-MATIC to make a repeater from YOUR two TYT TH-9000D (or TH-9000) radios ( RADIOS NOT INCLUDED!!! ) Fully populated cables to bring out the needed connections from YOUR TH-9000D , 2 cables. 1 for transmitter radio, 1 for receiver radio (both identical) to our IDOM4 Basic skills with a screwdriver and the ability to follow directions are needed. If you do not feel confident to add these cables, then pay someone to do it for you. Yes, the cables with white connectors are special and almost impossible to get elsewhere, we had to buy 1000 just to get a decent price! All work to install 12 inch wires on DB-9 connector done in our shop by Hams for Hams! There is a lot more work for us to prepare this cable set than you might think! DB-9 connectors may or may not have one mounting hole slot cut out. If not, you can open the hole if needed with your radio. Basic parameters, ID every 10 minutes (HAM) or 15 minutes (GMRS) while active. TX hang time 2 seconds, Time Out Timer 4 minutes, courtesy beep, COR = active LOW (If you want anything different, you MUST tell me before we ship! You can always reprogram yourself VOICE BOARD OPTIONAL, see our other listings YOU must select the radios and verify the frequency range of whatever radios you select. We do not sell the radios For the reading impaired, RADIOS NOT INCLUDED!! FINALLY an EASY solution to making a repeater without having to buy used Motorola radios requiring special software and skills! How to do it: 1) Open YOUR radio by removing bottom cover 2) Insert white plastic connector through DB-9 connector hole in rear of radio (you may need to remove a cover) 3) Carefully plug white plug into connector on board as shown in the picture, WHITE WIRE is towards FRONT of radio (as shown), dress cable as shown 4) Mount DB-9 female in hole with screws provided (note: one side of DB-9 mounting hole has been opened to allow for the odd distance screw holes on the TH-9000D 5) Repeat for 2nd radio Transmitter DB-9 male WHITE - Ground (connect to terminal 12 on IDOM4) YELLOW or BROWN - TX Audio (terminal 11 on IDOM4) BLACK - PTT (terminal 3 on IDOM4) Receiver DB-9 male WHITE - ground (terminal 1 on IDOM4) BLUE - RX audio (terminal 8 on IDOM4) ORANGE or GREEN - COS (active low) (terminal 7 on IDOM4) RED - +5 vdc (terminal 2 on IDOM4) What is on each DB-9 female that comes from your radios? WHITE - Ground YELLOW - TX Audio BLACK - PTT BLUE - RX audio ORANGE - COS (active low) RED - +5 vdc More notes on making a repeater Program each TH-9000D on separate frequencies, typically 5 MHz difference on UHF for Ham or GMRS Example: 467.650 RX, 462.650 TX (GMRS). We also suggest using a PL tone (CTCSS) We suggest programming each radio identical, then if you ever need to swap RX and TX radios, all you need to do is change coax and controller cables What do I mean by identical? For example: program channel 1 as 467.650 with minus offset for each radio. The RX radio will never transmit so it will always receive on 467.650. The transmitter radio will transmit with the minus offset on 462.650 Use a duplexer and one antenna or two separate antennas separated VERTICALLY by at least 10 feet from top of bottom antenna to bottom of top antenna for a 10 watt repeater. Each antenna MUST be mounted directly above and below each other, DO NOT mount antennas with horizontal separation (horizontal is in the pattern of the antennas!) We recommend lowering the power on your TH-9000D transmitter as it will need to operate at 100% duty cycle and it is not rated to do so at full power. A cooling fan is also recommended. Use double shielded coaxial cables for the RF path for RX and TX Use a high quality power supply capable of delivering the total current needed by RX, TX radios, controller, fan, etc You may still use the speaker of the receiver radio to listen and plug a mic into the transmitter radio if you wish to also transmit from it locally.
